Land Donations

Since it's founding, the primary mission of Prudence Conservancy has been to "preserve the unique character and to protect the natural diversity and beauty of Prudence Island". Consistent with this mission, Prudence Conservancy is actively seeking parcels of land on Prudence Island to preserve. For landowners who are interested in assisting Prudence Conservancy, there are many methods available. Among the many options at their disposal, landowners can:

a.) Donate land outright to Prudence Conservancy

b.) Sell property at a reduced price to Prudence Conservancy

c.) Donate or sell conservation easements to Prudence Conservancy

Each of these options has a variety of benefits for both the donor and Prudence Conservancy. By donating land to Prudence Conservancy, the landowner ensures that it will be preserved as open space for the enjoyment of present and future generations of islanders. In addition, by by donating land to Prudence Conservancy, landowners may be eligible for significant tax benefits as a result of their generous donation.

Clearly, donating land and conservation easements is a big decision which should not be taken lightly. Before making a decision such as this, Prudence Conservancy recommends that landowners speak with their family and financial advisor to gain a better understanding of the process.
